We do not use water (Aqua) in our formulas, unless Aqua comes in small quantities in premade blends from the companies we cooperate with. We pay a lot of attention to detail as regards what each ingredient we source comes from and how it is extracted. Take for instance the Alpine water used for irrigation of the plants we source from the Alps and the extracts that come from them. Studies conducted by these companies have shown that their alpine irrigation water contains minerals similar to pure EVIAN water. Another example is the Alpine Scutellaria we use that has shown in studies to soothe irritated and stressed skin. Alpine Scutellaria (Scutellaria Alpina) that is organically cultivated in the Alps has shown to offer very stronger anti-inflammatory and antioxidant qualities from its Chinese equivalent (Scutellaria Baicalensis) that is currently endangered because of over harvesting. Moreover, our Alpine provider excels in global certifications for organic cosmetics (Ecocert, Cosmos, Natrue, Halal, ISO 9001).
Quality here also refers to the fact that we use our own botanical distillates that we make in-house instead of filtered water from the local plants we grow on our mountainous botanical farm. This means two things. Firstly, the pH of the final product is lower so that means it is closer to the pH of the skin (5.0 – 5.5) that makes all our products skin-friendly and hence aids further the absorption of the active ingredients; and, secondly, we do not buy distillates as by-products of the essential oil market. This means that our distillates naturally contain a small quantity of the essential oil of the plan we are extracting that provides additional benefits to the skin.
